Privacy policy
Last updated: 26 May 2026
This policy explains what personal information we collect when you use insidedata.co.uk, why we collect it, and what your rights are. We’ve written it in plain English because that’s how we prefer to communicate — but it’s still a legal document, so some detail is unavoidable.
1. Who we are
InsideData (“we”, “us”, “our”) is the data controller for personal information collected through this website.
For any questions about this policy or how we handle your data, contact us at hello@insidedata.co.uk.
2. What we collect
We only collect personal information when you choose to give it to us, or when it’s necessary to run the website securely.
When you contact us
If you submit our contact form, we collect:
- Your name
- Your email address
- Your company name (if you provide it)
- Your phone number (if you provide it)
- Project type and indicative budget (if you select them)
- Your message
- Your IP address and browser user-agent string (recorded automatically for security and abuse prevention)
We store this information in our database and send a notification email to our team so we can reply. We do not use contact form submissions for marketing unless you explicitly ask us to stay in touch.
When you book a call
Our contact and landing pages include a booking button powered by Cal.com. When you book a discovery call, you provide information directly to Cal.com (such as your name, email address, and chosen time slot). We receive the booking details needed to hold the meeting. Cal.com’s own privacy policy applies to data you submit through their service.
When you email us
If you email us directly, we process whatever information you include in your message (typically your email address, name, and the content of your enquiry).
When you browse the site
We use the LinkedIn Insight Tag on this website to measure the effectiveness of our LinkedIn advertising — including when someone completes a discovery call booking. LinkedIn may set cookies or use similar technologies for this purpose. See LinkedIn’s privacy policy for details. You can opt out of LinkedIn personalised advertising via LinkedIn’s settings.
We also use:
-
LinkedIn Insight Tag — measures ad performance and
conversions (such as discovery call bookings) when you arrive from LinkedIn advertising. Loaded from
snap.licdn.com. - Essential session cookies — set by our web application so the site works correctly (for example, to remember form submission status during your visit). These are strictly necessary and do not require consent under UK law.
- Third-party resources — we load fonts from Google Fonts, JavaScript from jsDelivr (Alpine.js), and the Cal.com booking widget on relevant pages. These providers may receive technical data such as your IP address when your browser requests those resources. We do not control what they collect; please refer to their respective privacy policies.
3. How we use your information
We use personal information only for clear, limited purposes:
- To respond to your enquiry or prepare for a booked call
- To assess whether we might be able to help with a project
- To maintain records of business correspondence
- To protect the website from spam and abuse
- To measure whether our LinkedIn advertising leads to discovery call bookings
- To comply with legal obligations where applicable
We do not sell your personal information. We do not use it for automated decision-making or profiling.
Lawful basis (UK GDPR)
Depending on the context, we rely on:
- Legitimate interests — to respond to business enquiries, operate our website securely, and manage prospective client relationships in a proportionate way.
- Contractual necessity — where processing is needed before entering into a contract with you (for example, scoping a project after an enquiry).
- Legal obligation — where we must retain or disclose information to comply with applicable law.
4. Who we share information with
We share personal information only when necessary to run the website or respond to you:
- Our team — staff and contractors who need access to handle enquiries and deliver our services.
- Email and hosting providers — services that host the website, store data, or deliver email on our behalf. These providers act as data processors and may only use your data according to our instructions.
- Cal.com — when you book a call through their platform.
Some of these providers may process data outside the UK. Where that happens, we ensure appropriate safeguards are in place (such as UK adequacy regulations, standard contractual clauses, or equivalent protections).
5. How long we keep information
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it:
- Contact form enquiries — typically up to two years after our last meaningful contact, unless a longer period is needed for legal, accounting, or contractual reasons.
- Email correspondence — for as long as the conversation remains relevant to a potential or active client relationship, then deleted or archived in line with our internal retention practices.
- Server and security logs — for a short period necessary to maintain security and diagnose technical issues.
When information is no longer needed, we delete it or anonymise it where deletion is not practical.
6. Your rights
Under UK data protection law, you have rights including:
- The right to access a copy of the personal information we hold about you
- The right to ask us to correct inaccurate information
- The right to ask us to delete your information in certain circumstances
- The right to restrict or object to certain processing
- The right to data portability, where applicable
- The right to withdraw consent where processing is based on consent (we use consent rarely on this site)
To exercise any of these rights, email hello@insidedata.co.uk. We may need to verify your identity before responding. We aim to reply within one month.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with the Information Commissioner’s Office (ICO) if you believe we have handled your data unlawfully: ico.org.uk/make-a-complaint.
7. Security
We take reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect personal information, including access controls, secure hosting, and spam protection on our contact form. No method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, but we work to keep your data as safe as practical for a business of our size.
8. Links to other websites
Our site may link to third-party websites (for example, Cal.com or articles we reference on the blog). We are not responsible for their privacy practices. Please read their policies before submitting personal information to them.
9. Changes to this policy
We may update this policy from time to time — for example, if we add new features to the website or change how we handle data. When we do, we’ll update the “Last updated” date at the top of this page. Significant changes may also be highlighted on the website.
10. Contact
